The one time I did a temp repair with alum insertable tubes I found 
that because the wall was thicker the pushrod rubbed HARD 
against the side of the tube. If you look at your engine you'll see 
that the pushrods are not all perfectly centered in their spaces. The 
separable tubes have thicker walls by necessity and I didn't like 
them for this reason. I had to file out custom grooves inside each 
one that I installed for this reason.

I wouldn't use them unless it was really necessary, but I agree that 
they were certainly a good thing for Simon to have along on his 
trips.
