I have found the timing on my 1600, dual Solex, with 009 dizzy to come
out the same as spec. '66 dizzy: 7.5 BTDC. This gives me approx. 28 to 30
deg. total advance (at high RPM).
I don't think dieseling will cause any problems, as long as it just a
few rev.'s after shut down. I'm quite sure that the electro idle cut-off's
did not exist in the solex's before '66.
