Are you sure that the PS in your car is the right one for that year? If you're not sure you have the right one, remove it and get the numbers off it and let us know. The 72-3 pressure sensor should have a black cap over the adjustment screw on the rear end, but these have sometimes been removed if the PS was rebuilt or tampered with. Careless tampering could leave you running rich. Did you find a FI wire connected to the starter? I just realized that on a 72, that wire doesn't connect directly there. Here's a different way to look for this problem: Get in the car and turn the key ON. You should hear a click as the key goes ON, and a second click ~1 second later. The fuel pump should run only between these clicks. Is this what you hear? If the pump runs continuously after you turn the key on then there are some wires misconnected on the starter. This problem is covered in the Bentley manual. Do you have this manual? > Could the temp sensor II be causing this high fuel consumption? Any > way to test these temp sensors with an Ohm meter? You're flying blind if you're trying to do this without a manual, and the Bentley manual is by far the best one. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
