The case of the wobbly steering, I had this problem two months ago . I had two major causes of this and this got so bad after runnung over rail road tracks at intersection, it was hard to control the car for a little while after. The first cause was unbalanced tires that lost their balancing weights then the second cause was that the top sway bar was so loose that the tires and top suspension arm rocked from side to side and oscillated for a while. This was corrected by tire balancing and tightening the swaybar (this took ten minutes, and greasing too). Don't forget to grease gun the suspension nipples. this will prevent wear on the suspension roller bearings and side brass bushings on the swaybar so you will never (virtually) have the vibrating side to side. I do not know if this is what is causing your problem unless you have worn ball joints. This was my experience.
