The cruise on Saturday (14 APRIL ) was pretty enjoyable for most of us. At the meeting area at Dennis we had our initial photoshoot and car checkout. We had 4 CB radios communicating between some cars, we did not only use it for formal communication but also for goofing off. We started with ten cars and ended with 9 at the end of the day. We had a slight mishap. In one upperclass beach town we played follow the leader through an intersection which had a "no u turn" sign, just imagine eight Type 3's going on that u turn doing completely the wrong thing and to top it off ,with a cherry on top, there was a police car across the street watching us in a parade procession doing the wrong thing while we were watching the car parked there. The officer didn't get us because our last lost car did the right thing and did not give the officer cause to take action, during the official donut break, with donut and coffe in hand, would have been inconvenient. The officer was watching all this time I think some of our members noticed this. Sorry officer!!! Really. At least two members were not traffic violators. We cruised down some real awesome beaches which seemed to last for hours and through beautiful picturesque centers of towns in A very green San Diego county. We also stopped for some photo shoots at a very long serene beach. It seemed surreal seeing 9 Type 3's lined up at the beach with the sand, waves and sunshine as a backdrop. We ended the trip after a couple of hours at an Irish Pub which had exellent food. We exchanged stories, technical info and some neat ancient magazines from the 1962 issues of Popular Mechanics. These were my favorites because it showed new car testing of the Type 3. Our cruise lasted about four hours. Some people felt this was a little tense because of the traffic but the looks other people gave us was priceless anyhow. This was really cool.
