I believe the script above VARIANT would have been VW1600! This is assuming that your car is a European market model. (I'm judging by the VARIANT badge.) If it is a US market car I believe that the script should have simply been VOLKSWAGEN. I have a Euro market 66 square which is missing it's VW1600 badge. It is a 3-pin badge with different spacing than the VOLKSWAGEN badge I tried to fit in it's place. The badge I tried was from a later square.
