Do the compression test like Steven suggested as a preliminary piston ring seal check. But also look into fuel mixture. You're probably running rich. Others here will have to help with the Webers. And I think I have read here on the list about leaky heater systems that can draw exhaust fumes inside, but others will have to chime in on this, too.
