What you are seeing is not a fuse problem. It is the fact that the voltage gets drawn down when you put a large load (the starter solenoid) on it. If you have a voltmeter you can start by having someone measure the battery voltage while you turn the key to START. They MUST touch the battery posts directly, not the cables or clamps. If the voltage reading drops when you go to START, then the battery is dead. If it does not drop, then the voltage drop is elsewhere and you can use the voltmeter to find where the drop is happening, but this requires some understanding of electricity. A dead battery may need to be replaced or it may just be a sign of a charging system that is not working. I can send you my charging system FAQ if you find that your battery is dead. It is a lot simpler to just fix the problem than it is to replace everything on the mistaken assumption that the fault must be with one of them. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
