It's so simple and easy to check once you have a timing light that I check it on every car, every tuneup. I rebuild these for a flat fee and can correct this and all the other problems that accumulate in your distributor at the same time. This mechanism really has to work smoothly to serve you and your car well. Fixing a bad one will make an astonishing difference difference to your car's performance, longevity, AND gas mileage.
