To run that size tire, I would imagine that short axles are definitely
required.  I have that size tire on my GTI and I can't imagine them fitting
on my Fastback.  Although I'm sure others have gotten them to fit.  Also try
to find a rim with a good offset.  That will help with the bigger tires.

I'm also the one that originally posted about the shorter axles, and never
heard what it takes to install.
