[T3] fuel tank float

We've been having repeated problems with the gas gauge in the Notch.  I've 
poked around quite a bit, pulled the gauge, pulled the float, made sure the 
float was grounded and it still bounces and misreads like crazy. 

I've had a few people tell me that the float is the most likely suspect in 
this and I've also had several places tell me that the floats are not 
available.  This seems kind of odd to me, but I figured I'd ask.

Anyone have a known to be good float?  Is there a way to tell if my float's 
for certain bad?  

Anyone experiences on this?
