There are several home lifts advertised in any one of my Street Rodder
magazines.  I also did a quick search using lycos.com and came up with at
least a dozen US manufacturers of automotive lifts.  One of them would even
let you download AutoCAD crawings of their products.  Here are just a few to
try:

I don't know what your definition of cheap is.  Most of the ones I saw were
in the $1300 - $2000 range.  All of these were 6000-7000 lb capacity
however.  If anyone does a more extensive search and finds one that would be
cheaper at say 3500-4000 lb capacity, let the List know.

There used to be one advertised in HVW awhile ago to.  I think they even did
an article on it.  Don't remember the specifics, but it was a scissor jack
type that let you tilt the car forward or backward to get extra height.
Sound familiar to anyone?

Hmmmmm....might be a fun project to engineer one day.....if I only had the
time.
