okay so i asked the list a while ago about some weird problems i'm having with my 70FI square. what happens is that i suddenly lose power while driving, and then when i mash the accelerator it slowly gains power...then pow..pow...powpow a couple of backfires and then it runs okay. so far i cannot determine the circumstances when this problem occurs. hot/cold, day/night, full gas/low gas, full oil/low oil, none of this seems to matter. the only thing i have noticed is that when it's losing power in fourth and i'm forced to downshift, the sudden jump in RPMs usually helps clear it up quickly and usually with less backfires. so, that made me wonder. do you think this could be a problem with a sticky vac advance on my distributor? has anyone ever heard of this happening? so far it's the only logical thing i can think of. cause when it's not running right it seems like the timing is off, but then after the backfires, and most of the time, it's fine. any suggestions? also my 70 square has a very nice black repo interior side panel kit that i'd like to sell cause i want to get the white set that belongs on my car. pmail me if you're interested. - it's complete and very clean. thanks volks andrew.p ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
