Which one? I don't remember what you said about the octane available there, but I think it was higher than ours, so a 7.8:1 CR is probably fine for you. For the valves, did you mean 0.006"? 0.06" would be much too large. > 1. I put the flywheel on before closing the case - much easier when it is > in a clamp, no, I didn't forget the oil seal. Is there a problem with this? It's hard to get the seal in the right place if you do it this way, only because you can't tell where it is for certain, but there is nothing inherently wrong with doing it this way. It IS important to put some grease on the nose of the flywheel so the seal is lubricated when you first start up. Otherwise the seal can be destroyed before it gets oil from the engine. > 2. How did you adjust it? This measurement is usually just a measure of how worn the driven disk is, so with a new disk you should be back at the bottom of the range. If you had the flywheel resurfaced then they should have removed an equal amount from the ledge where the pressure plate mounts; this restores the OE mount height. Some of the manuals give this step height, but I don't remember it off the top of my head. If this was not done I'm not sure what all the consequences might be, but I think it is worth taking it back off and getting it fixed before you go on. If you need this step dimension email me back and I will look it up tonight.
