Jason, you are right in this statement but only half right on the second part. While a rich condition does waste gas and foul plugs it also washes down the cylinder walls of much needed oil to cool and lubricate the piston and cylinder. It also dilutes the oil in the engine and leaves deposits that will eventually get onto tžkc ngs and the rest of the oil system leading to inevitable premature failure. An analogous situation would be fatty deposits along ones arteries the more "rich" foods one eats.
