Well, what I'd do and have done that seems to work really good, and that is
to pull both rocker covers, wipe off all the oil on the head that can be
wiped away with the covers off, especially on that sealing edge. Then, take
out your gaskets on both rocker covers, throughoughly wipe off all the oil
on that sealing edge and on the insides. Then, put a bead of Permetex
gasket maker (i think mine is high temp, that's just what i have, i don't
know if it'd have to be) make sure the gasket stuff is oil resistant, put
that all around on the edge of the rocker cover, then push a new set of
gaskets into place on both of your rocker covers. Then wait till it dries,
put the rocker covers back on. Wipe up all the oil on the heat exchanger
and whereSŒRleaked onto, then you'll be ready to go again.

I have done that on all my VW's and haven't had a leak there since, just be
sure not to put the gasket maker on the wrong side, which would be between
the gasket and the head, you want it between the gasket and the rocker
cover. Hope that helps!
