If it's external, it should have a strap round it screwed to the distributor, and 2 wires; one with a grommet goes into the distributor, and the other to the coil negative. Take a look in your manual how to remove the distributor; I think in the Type 3 you can't get to it easily. If they don't know what a Type 3 condensor is like, for 2/64 to 7/69 use a Type 1 (Beetle) 2/64 to 1/73; for 8/69-on use Type2 8/70 to 1/73 (1600 cc engine; maybe to 7/71 for USA). Dave.
