Re: [T3] Newbie Questions

Uncracked RHD dashes come up occasionally in the UK, but I doubt it's worth
the carriage, and it would probably get damaged in transit.

Gen light problem may just be bad wiring connections; it is connected
across the dynamo output and the battery +, so only glows when they differ
by a couple of volts.
You needn't worry about it unless it comes on brightly. You probably
notice it changing brightness in time with the flashers also.

The high idle is probably the auto-chokes on the carbs (I'm guessing it's
not FI). Mine does that too; you live with it (well, I do, but maybe I
should try some lubrication too). A bit of lubrication on the moving
linkages C64¯arbs may help, but check the auto-chokes are adjusted
correctly, and not staying on too long. After a while, a quick throttle
blip gets normal idle for me. Could be the internal choke vac pull-down
unit sticking a bit.
Oops, TSLE presumably is injection (the E bit). The cold idle device is
where the fuel pump would be for a carb engine. Maybe this has been
interfered with, or is thick with dirt underneath.

Don't know about Australian badging, but LE for a Notch might be more usual
(or was TLE applied to Notch as well as Fastback?).

Subject: [T3] Newbie Questions

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the Type 3 and well, hopeless with my hands, so I'd
appreciate some advice on our '70 Notch. We have only had it for
2500 miles so far with 90,000 odd miles on the clock. (It's a
weekend driver until I can get the rust cut out etc etc). Sorry about
the list of questions.
