That's nice to hear James; hope you've got the MoT test problems sorted.  I
did the Variant (Square) clutch at the weekend and broke a clutch bolt.
Then I found I had loads of M8x20 high-tensile in the garage, so I
shouldn't even have bothered to take the short cut of re-fitting the old
ones.
I've not had this happen on the half-dozen clutch jobs previously, but
there were signs of the odd damaged head, though not on the one that broke.
I assume a gorilla had done the tightening job previously; there were quite
a few bits of old lining in the bell housing debris, but it's not off the
present lining and the car has only done 67,000 miles.   The sleeve had
been replaced with a black (plastic?)Lc?Àaybe there had been some
catastrophic breakage in the past.
