If you come to a conclusion I would be very interested in a solution to th‹çW common problem. I had always assumed that it must have been some kind of transistor deteoriation problem, like getting leaky or loss of beta, but the one I took apart last had good transistors in it. At least they were good as far as my testing seemed to show. My next step was to just substitute some good modern workhorses in there like 3904s or 3906s and see if that made a difference. Sorry, too many projects, not enough time.
