Reverse isn't a synchronised gear. Before 'pushing' it into reverse, clutch and shift into any other gear first to set the synchros, and then into reverse. Problem should be solved. If not, your synchros could be worn, shifter forks could be worn; lotsa stuff *could* be wrong, but I think you'll be fine if ÙD~Åa different gear first. -----Original Message----- From: Vdub66@aol.com [SMTP:Vdub66@aol.com] Sent: Monday, March 29, 1999 10:50 AM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: [T3] tranny Hello, I have noticed lately that after driving my 66 square around for a while when i try to put it in reverse i get a gringding noise like if the clutch wasnt pressed in, but it is..Does this mean the clutch isnt doing its job? This only happens in reverse, and only when i have been driving around for a while. If i push it into reverse faster/harder nothing happens ( bad i mean )... joe ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
