I'll complain about anything, not just gasoline, that climbs 49% in price in just over 30 days! Since I didn't drive in the 60's I didn't have a change to experience the 'cheap' price days. I don't think a Euro perspective is needed as they have always paid more for their fuel than the US and I think we all know that. . Kind of like stacking the deck, isn't it? After correcting for inflation, how much did your wages go up last year? I know mine didn't increase at the rate these prices are.
