There are two different sets of marks; yours sounds like TDC on the left on
its own.
The VW timing info from their maintenance schedule gives the left-hand of
the group of 3 as 7.5 degs BTDC, and the middle one as 10 degs BTDC.
If anyone wants a copy, just ask (have sent one to Jacob).
