O.k... I spoke with the insurance agent who'll be paying me for damage to the '69. He's in Columbus (several hours away). I'm to take it to two shops to get estimates, and then fax him the estimates. Alternatively, he can send somebody (presumably local) to do the estimate. I got a cÄ››k shop recommendations, but I'm pretty leery about having *anybody* touch the car. Is it likely that I'd be able to get them to send *me* the claim check, or will insurance places typically only send a check to a body shop? I'd rather put the money into a general, more holistic "Squareback body/paint fund" rather than have money spent on this repair alone. Is it generally possible to get a check written directly to me, or will my choices be: o entrust my car to some Honda/Chevy body shop, or o get left high & dry? -Greg ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
