Whoa, I know someone used to make dropped spindles for the Type 3. Last year or so I was looking for a better way to lower my baby and found some company in one of the VW magazines (I don't remember who) that made a dropped spindle for the late model T3. However, it was $250 for the pair (ouch!) O?į·Ąsmallest amount of drop was 2.5". If you really got to have 'em then call around. If you just want a slight drop I recommend only one or two notches front and rear. This should allow you to keep your stock rims and just use a slightly lower profile tire (if required). Three notches or more will create noticeable and unpleasant suspension and steering changes as well as wheel/fender clearance problems. I dropped my car two notches and am using 15"x5.5" rims with 195/60 tires. Snow chains are impossible for the rears but nothing rubs unless I hit it hard (slanted driveway entrance or those stupid gutters that run across through some rural streets).
