A few weeks earlier I asked the list about differences between hinges of doors. I got helpfull answers but I still need to know: Can the hinges with 3 holes (of a '65 notch) be made to fit a "2 holes style" '67 squareback. That would probably be cutting it smaller, closing the old holes and drill two new ones. Can that be done? Are you experienced? I have to know this quickly because of a scheduled weld- and paint job for which I go to travel to Kroatia. My earlier email with the answers: >I bought some doors of a '65 to replace the rusted ones of my '67 SB. >When I wanted to bold them on I noticed the hinges are different and >not easy to change (from 3 bolds to two). >I guess I have to search for the same as the original '67? >Somebody has doors with the later style handle but I would rather have >the more stylish older handle with the seperate lock beneath. >Any suggestions from the list? >Richard Visser >67 SB Holland ------------------------------------------------------------------- >you want 66-7 doors from a Square or a fast, NOT a notch. later ones will >fit but the handles are different and the interior panels wont fit eather. ------------------------------------------------------------------- >Yes, the three bolt hinges were dropped after 1965 and as you found out, do >not fit on a 1967. I hope that you didn't pay too much for them. >Further, the door handles from the earlier doors do not fit on the 1967 >door either - I have tried the same thing. Thankfully, it is NOS though. --------------------------------------------------------------------- >I think the difference in the doors is based on whether they came from a >notch or a square/fastback. The Notchbacks have 3 bolt hinges and the >square/fastback have just 2.
