Can some of you experts explain to me how to drill into steel? I've gone through two 1/16" drill bits, both snapping flush with the steel rod I'm drilling into and I'm getting pretty frustrated. Here's the situation: 1/4" steel rod, zinc coating for rust protection. 1/16" drill bit (meant for metals, not wood!) using a variable-speed hand drill (I don't have access to a drill press, should I go to Sears and go more in debt?[¸át should I do? Fast/low drill speed? Light/heavy pressure on the drill bit? I have no problems with bigger drill bits but these itty-bitty ones just snap on me. You may contact me directly or cc: me on this thread...I have over 101 VW messages to wade through from Friday and am so busy today I doubt I'll have time to read any of them today. Thanks, volks!
