Ah, yes now I remember, the "weep hole" is for oil return. I was mis-remembering a discussion (I think it is in Tom Wilson's book), warning against accidentally plugging up that hole with gobs of sealant. I suppose if it was plugged, you'd end up with oil being forced past the seal, though not because of a lack of lubrication. As for the seal removing hook, yes, they work nicely, most of the time; but if the seal has very little integrity left, you may find that you are left with precious little to grab onto, and risk marring the case. That's when the hack saw blade trick is indicated. BTW, that trick can also get a shy pilot bearing out of the end of a type IV Crank.
