> Not to mention the lovely tinkling and sparks you get from your exhaust valves dropping all over the place! > Huh? What are you talking about? Exhaust has an effect on the overall tuning of the motor. Lower back pressure and better extraction has the effect of leaning out your air/fuel mix, and the motor runs hotter. The hotter, leaner exhaust is "extracted" more efficiently, being drawn past the exhaust valves at a greater velocity and there is a risk of burning them. Big changes to the exhaust with duals or a strô ©áasspack usually involves rejetting the carbs, unless you have a huge motor or are running too rich in the first place. A freer flowing exhaust also effects torque. Better flow will get you more rpm's on the highway, but your bottom end pulling power can suffer. Once you get beyond a stock motor, everything's a compromise. Think of it as a balance, with exhaust on one side and your fuel delivery system on the other. Tip the scale too far to either side you're shaving miles off the life of your motor. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
