That's your date button. When you're out on a new date, you ask your car how
hot (he/she) is. If it lights up, you're in business!

Actually, it's a warning light for your dual circuit master cylinder. Should
pressure fail in one circuit, the light is supposed to come on. The push to
light feature is a way to test of the bulb is still working. Consider
yourself one of the privileged ones, as later years (in Bugs anyway) were
static, and you can't push them to test if the light works.
