on 6/7/99 "Steve Glavas" <steveglavas@email.com> spouted: <<Who on the list has currently, or had a type 4 engine in their type 3?>> interesting that you should ask this question young jedi.... <hoo hhooo hoooo *sounds of Darth Vader breathing*> The dark side is strong... I can feel it pulling you....<hoo hooooo hoooo> I happen to be working on this conversion right now....yes right now.. I'm typing with greasy fingers whilst wrenching a type4 motor.... not really.... though, I am building a 2.3 litre type4 motor to put in my notch. <<you could tell me the technical difficulties you have come across, t>> aieeeeeeeeee !!! well......... fabricating mounts for the rear crossmember ( bus type mount ), finding an air cone from a 411/412 ( can you say "hen's teeth" ?) to mate the rubber bellows up with so that the engine still pulls cool air from the stock location, having custom-custom-custom intake manifolds fabricated so that the carbs will fit under the stock deckild. getting a 215mm flywheel with a gland nut bearing pressed into the cerrÖ it for the transmission input shaft. beefing up your transmission so that the first time you lay into that sucker you don't shoot the axles out the sides of it. The type4 motor is just in assembly stages right now. It probably won't go into the car 'til fall. <<Any suggestions about sway bars? What should I be looking for in a set of>> I got a front swaybar for my notch from CB I think, then a camber compensator in the rear. With the 195/50's up front and the 205/60's out back she handles like a rocket sled on rails. <<Currently, I am stock. I do not want to cut more than necessary.>> <yoda voice> "stock as you think it / is no longer your destiny.......your mind betrays you.... strong is the darkside... steal your soul it will" SEEYA'LL !!!!!!!!!
