Well we finally took our Notch on her maiden voyage yesterday, a 200 mile round trip to the Athens Ohio show put on by the South Eastern Ohio VW club. The drive was alongside the Ohio river and then into the rolling hills of state route 33 to Athens (no interstate here). What a great drive! The Notch ran flawlessly and I would have to roll up all of the windows and close the Sunroof just to here the engine purring. I couldn't believe the difference in how the Notch handles and rides compared to my Beetle. Thanks to everybody on this list that has helped with parts and advice you guys are the greatest! The show was a little down from last year with no where near the swap meet stuff available. (Is it just me or are all of the swap meets getting smaller) There was about 50 cars that came with a nice Type 3 & 4 showing. 3 T3s and 2 T4s. Jim Meyers 68 Fastback took the honors, a beautifull late model lt blue FB,our Notch and 2 412s (a 74 that looked like a FB with 4 doors and a later model that looked more like the SB.) I ran in to list member Ryan Osborn from NC who is still working on his 64 Notch.
