Paul, I have a 4-tip exhaust on my car, and no cutting was done. I saw the pic you were referring to, and I think it was done because that car has a rear roll pan / skirt that is lower than stock. About your question of the front end being low, look at my pics. They were taken with the engine out, and the car is only slightly higher in the back.
