He writes a monthly column for Electronic Design News (I think) called Pease Porrige which covers the gamut of electronic analog design and is usually entertaining, to boot. He has been driving VW beetles forever. A few years ago he put out a book which I bought, and eagerly read, called Analog Design. About 100 pages into that book you will find a photo of a test setup on his bench at work where he has bolted a TO-3 power transister to a VW head. I don't recall whether it is single or dual port, but it made it clear where HIS head was at. Nowhere in the text is it mentioned that the head is from a VW, but I get the impression that he expected a fair number of his readers to recognize it.
