Recently, I purchased a Petronix Electronic Ignition Ignitor. The company sent me the correct one, for i had no trouble installing it on my Stock fuel injection distributor. However, after installing the new ignitor, i have experienced a few problems. Perhaps they are just stupid newbie questions because this is the first VW i've owned that i've done all the work on myself. Since the new ignitor was installed, i set the timing. However, when i set the timing that was set when the engine was running the car started horribly. It would crank a few times then stop before i let go of the key. It sounded as if the car was struggling to try to get it to start. It didn't turn as fast either, which i know has nothing to do with the ignitor just thought i'd mention it. Also, when i'd set the timing a little differently so i could get the car to start like it always has, the eninge RPM seemed to be too fast. The RPM in the other setting seemed too fast also. I do have to admit that this is the first time i've ran the car this winter in cold Indiana because i don't want the salt eating my car alive, anyways, the reason i started her up was to see if the ignitor worked. Which did, but the car seemed to run differently. Like i said earlier, this is probably some simple newbie question, i was just concerned if the troubles were due to the cold, if the rpm's generally are higher in the cold, or if the new ignitor kit makes it run faster, i don't know. Any suggestions will help, even if you just tell me i'm crazy, then i'll know for sure :) thank you Jacob Schroeder '72 Squareback w/stock FI ____________________________________Öþ*__________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
