You're talking about the 2 halves of the collector |piece. Those just slip into each other and usually get clamped |together, like everybody else said. I was talking about using actual |J-tubes instead of the heater boxes. Sorry, it's my new 'warm winter in |Florida' mentality talking, although my squareback will have a |functional heater when it's done. | |Jake Kooser ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- hmmmmmmmm functioning heater, warm winter mentality? this brings to mind another pipe dream. i would like to get my thermostatic air control flaps intact again.. right now all i have is the rod that runs across the front of the fanhousing. i also have a few thermostats and brackets that i'm assuming are from type 1's, will these work on my square? i certainly need the flaps and the control rods, plus some idea on how its all supposed to go together. most vw's that I have found in Texas have no thermostat, but the last few weeks make me think it might not be all that bad to have a fully functioning system. i wouldn't do it now anyway, as my engine is all back together, and it'll be in the car as soon as its warm enough to be able to hold a wrench. but i've been told to pull it back out after break in and re-torque the heads, which seems like a perfect opportunity for this little fix.
