I remember someone who put a Bug motor in a Fasty a couple years ago. He left the engine cover off and didn't use the cargo space to carry anything. I would find a pancake motor for it. I move lotsa stuff. A couple problems I see with this: Biggie: engine cooling The bug motor has the rubber seals that meet with the tin to keep hot dirty exhausty road air below and cleaner cooler air above to be drawn in for combustion, engine cooling and ankle warming. Fastys get this air from the fender vents. Unless you're gonna fab something to seal the engine, you'll be killing your motor and yourself. (maybe not yourself if you forget about heat) Ankle warming: The warm air ports from the heater boxes are at a different angle on the type 1 than the type 3. The hoses might twist enough to fit but could be very stiff and brittle. Exhaust: Looking at a bug motor and my Square, I have doubts of stock bug pipes sticking out the back without bending the body or at least hitting when the engine shakes. Rear engine mount: Not critical for IRS sticks, need it for an auto, unsure of swing axles. Noise: That's gotta be loud. Stuff: Can't put it there. FI: If you have it you certainly don't want to get rid of it, do you? Kevin Bugs, Busses, Buggys and a '69 carbed Square ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
