I remember there were two styles of hitches found on the Beetles here in Norway, one that was mounted in the bumper mounts, the other had a long bar under the engine, and mounted at the ends of the tranny fork. I do not know witch was the most preferred style, I have the bumper mounted style on both my 73 Square as well as my 68 bug.
