If the idle circuit is dirty, and the float level

 i rebuilt the carbs about three months ago, right after i got the car,  and
the directions didn't say any thing about how to check the float height,
someone with an old bently maybe can tell me what it's supposed to be( damn,
i gotta get one of those soon)  i will check the fuel pressure as soon as i
can, one of the vw magazines  just had an article on adjusting mechanical
fuel pump pressure, so we'll see if that might be the trick.
