On American cars the general rating is 2-7 psi before the light will come one; a basically useless device, IMHO. By the time you've only got 2psi, you're hosed. The answer is, no. You're leaking or burning or both this oil. Check the bottom for drips, park over a cardboard box to see where they fall, and try and attack that route first.
