The accumulated experience of many T3 owners is that there is no ill 
effect if this connection is missing. It's therefore not structurally 
important, as one would expect of an engine mount. It seems too flimsy to 
make much difference if the tranny mounts break, and it's too loose to 
do much about side-to-side movement. I'd love to hear a good explanation 
of what it's for, and I think it would be rash to just go without it, 
but I sure can't figure a function for it.
