I tried a similar setup with a type 3 engine in my bug and found that if
you pull in the air from the lower back of the car you will get exhaust
fumes into the car if you have heater boxes installed. It's not bad if
your going down the road at 55, but if you stop for a red light you will
be rolling down the windows in short order. Just my 2 cents
