I read the recent letters about the kickdown switch. Gretchen ('69 SquareU ÷sn't have one, so I went researching and exploring. FI was gone when I got her a couple months ago. She's got 28's with an oil bath. The wire from the tranny for the solenoid connects to the hot side of the coil through a fuse holder. Checked the fuse (8A), it was good. Growing up on Bugs, I assumed that fuse holder was for the reverse lights until now. This may be an alternative to manually downshifting. I'll experiment when she's moving again. She upshifts, downshifts, and kicksdown on her own fine. First to second upshift has a bit of kick I don't like, more so at low to mid throttle. It's not too bad. I think that's unrelated to kickdown. Everything else happens nicely. Is that the nature of the 003 beast? Thanks Jim. Upon closer examination I identified my leak as ATF from the governor. It had covered the left inner CV so I thought it was from there. Kevin Reese York county PA, anyone close?
