There should be 

* a large bracket spot-welded to the rear 懹袻ngine compartment
* a steel donut-like affair lined with rubber that bolts up to the 
   bracket 
* a steel tube that bolts through the fan shroud into the crancase vent 
   riser

The bracket holds up the donut, and the tube rests inside the donut, the 
only connection between engine and body. None of this is an engine 
mount, but many people think of it that way.

On the other hand, you may be thinking of the later arrangement 
('69-on), where a rear crossmember holds up the engine because the IRS 
tranny can't. This part is unnecessary in a swing-axle car. 

Any of this make sense?
