Allright, this may sound stupid, but since i am new to volkswagens, relatively new anyways, i have several questions, but this post is about one of them. Here it goes, recently i rebuilt the engine in my type 3 with a stock 1600 cc engine getting all parts from mofoco and building it all myself, it runs too now, which is amazing, anyways, the question. Anyways, today i decided to take her for a quick spin around the block just for fun, i'm sure you all know how it is. When i got back, i looked under the engine, to keep an eye on where it leaks so i can fix it, besides a few little easily fixable leaks, i noticed a little black drip from the bottom side of one of my exhaust tail pipes. I looked inside the tailpipes and the inside of them is covered in black (it used to be yellow because i got that 4-tip exhaust system where the inside of the chrome pipes is yellow), what is this black liquid substance. I was wondering if it is gas that wasn't totally combusted and therefore it just builds up in there, is it oil due to excessive blowby and oil in the combustion chamber, or is this all normal? Or is it just something that happens on new engines until the rings form to the cylinder walls, because the engine is no where near broke in, it only has 5 miles on it. Will somebody please help me out here, it's probably nothing but i remember that my bus had the same problem and it backfired a lot too, oh yeah, if it is fixable, i'd like to know how to fix it too, thank you Jacob Schroeder '72 Squareback _____________________________êÃ¥ _________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
