RE: [T3] Engine/Transmission Swap

First, I hope you find a 914 that is really hosed as I don't want to see
these babies become extinct.

Second, you WILL need to fabricate a custom shift linkage, break open the
914 tranny to change the 5 reverse/1 forward gears around (914's are
mid-engine so the tranny, in a VW, will be rotated 180-deg.), support the
engine and tranny and probably do some trimming to fit/mount the tranny.

Oh, a STOCK 914 tranny rebuild is around $2000. A performance tranny
rebuild for a VW is less than $1000. Been there, done both.

A stock 914 engine rebuild (I'll assume the European-spec 2.0L) will cost
more than a 1641cc VW rebuild...probably even more than a 1776cc (?).

Definitely not an easy task. Have all the parts before you start working
(in a garage). It would be a pretty cool ride if you succeeded, though!
