It is normal for the fuel pump to whine and it is under the gas tank. If the fuel filter is clogged the pump will make more noise. Is it possible that it was cold enough to freeze water in your gas the other night and that it has gotten warmer since then? How about your gas overflow hose? Is it cracked so that you leak gas if you fill it all the way up? If so, a LOT of water can get pumped into the gas tank when you drive in wet weather. The generator light points to a failing voltage regulator. If you start to hear clicking from under the back seat, or if you can measure the battery voltage at med RPM and a warm engine and it's under 13.5V, then replace the VR. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
