In reference to the problem about the gen. light:  When I first got my car
engine rebuilt and installed I had the same problem.  I went and bought a new
bosch generator, installed it, same problem.  Took it back got a new one, same
problem!  Made sure I wired it correctly, same problem!  Turns out that on the
shaft of the generator there's a key engraved, the pulley does also, there was
nothing to keep the pulley from free spinning.  Hence the gen.light flicker
on low rpm.  I put a piece of metal in the key, problem solved!  Although this
might not be your problem, food for thought.
