Gene is exactly right that it helps to get some weight on the front wheels, but the owner's manual is quite clear on the recommended tire pressures for both front and rear: For light loads: 17/26 psi (all body styles) For full load: 18/29 psi (fastback) For full load: 18/36 psi (squareback) I add a couple of psi for better gas and tire mileage (except to the 36psi figure), but over 22 on the front under any circumstances will start to make things wander. I suspect this is the original problem as most service stations make it standard practice to just air the tires to 28 psi all around; this is definitely a no-no in the rear engined VWs. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
