I've had something like this in the FI Fastback; almost as if there wasn't enough power for the fuel pump. I had a feeling the pump relay might have not been functioning properly, but it may have been due to low voltage on the ECU as it was at night in the rain with lights and wipers on. There could be a tie in with the voltage regulator; I think this was some time before I had to change mine. Dave.
